SpinVox has announced that, in just five months, 600 developers have registered with the SpinVox Create community to use the SpinVox API to develop new commercial speech to text applications.
SpinVox API was first announced at Mobile World Congress, Barcelona 2009 and leverages SpinVox VMCS, the world’s largest commercial speech platform and the world’s first Cloud speech service, which already has over 30 million users and is growing fast. It provides a fully hosted platform with proven scale-on-demand capability and reliability to deliver on commercial strength service level agreements (SLAs) and complement SpinVox platform development services for Enterprise application partners and Carrier networks.
SpinVox API is now available in English, Spanish, German and French and works on any mobile platform enabling any developer with Web access to quickly build commercial speech applications. Applications are currently under development on Apple iPhone, Nokia Series 60, Google Android and Microsoft Windows Mobile platforms.
Of the 600 registrations, 40 have now been selected by SpinVox to be part of the co-creation programme and are undergoing live testing.
These include business efficiency, personal productivity and social networking handset applications; survey software; business utility tools and voicemail solutions tailored for the Unified Communications space.
A series of applications developed using the SpinVox API have already been launched into the market as SpinVox collaborates with third parties to foster further innovations in voice and expand the Speech 3.0 market.
The first iPhone application enabled by SpinVox – Quick Voice Pro – is available on the App Store and allows users to have their spoken messages automatically converted to text and send to an email address of their choice.
Audioboo, which aims to become the `Twitter of the spoken word` through its audio recording and broadcasting platform has announced that the SpinVox API will be used to automatically convert speech to text across Audioboo’s applications - including iPhone podcasting and Twitter posting.
0800TXTMUM is an initiative designed to ensure children are always able to contact their parents using a reverse-charge SMS text service. Built using the SpinVox API , 0800TXTMUM automatically converts to text voice messages left by kids that are then sent to their parents as SMS messages.
“SpinVox has already created a lead in restoring the primacy of voice with carriers on five continents around the world and with its range of Web 2.0 and Enterprise Unified Communications services. The rate of takeup of the API at over 100 registrations per month has been a testament to the position SpinVox has established in the market and will transform the value of speech,” says SpinVox co-founder and CEO, Christina Domecq.
